Thiruvonathoni to Leave for Aranmula Tomorrow

PATHANAMTHITTA: ‘Thiruvonathoni,’ the craft in the name of Lord Parthasarathy of Aranmula temple, carrying ingredients for Onasadya for the Lord on Thiruvonam day on August 28, will set off its journey from the temple kadavu of Pampa river on the side of Kattoor Sree Mahavishnu temple on August 27.

The Thiruvonathoni will leave the Kattoor temple at 6 pm with the ingredients offered by the families of Kattoor village for generations. Half a dozen palliyodams (snakeboats) will accompany the Thiruvonathoni on its 10-hour journey to the Aranmula temple kadavu. A ceremonial reception will be accorded to the Thiruvonathoni at different places en route to Aranmula, including Cherukol, Melukara, Ayroor, Kottathur, Thrippayar, Kozhencherry, Maramon and Mallappuzhassery.

Hundreds of devotees on both sides of Pampa river will light traditional lamps when it reaches the palliyodam karas on the entire route up to Aranmula.
