KOZHIKODE: The dawn of Thursday was filled with happiness for the students of National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC). The students took part in a combined effort to make their way into the Limca Book of Records by taking a selfie comprising the most number of people to ever be a part of a single selfie.
The event was held as a part of the upcoming cultural festival, Ragam, organised by NITC.
The selfie event was organised to break the current record of 1,151 people in a single selfie which was taken during a product promotion event held in Bangladesh. The students took the spirit of their much awaited event, Ragam, which will be held from March 26 to 29, to make this venture a grand success. The event was held at the open air theatre of NITC. Students were allowed to enter the premises only after completing a short registration process that started by 4 in the evening. The event was presided by the cine -artist and youth icon Sreenath Bhasi, whose presence was able to create hype among the cheerful gathering.
The celebrations and applause reached its high note when the well-known ‘freaken’ of Kerala went on to create a legend in the history of both NITC and Ragam by taking the selfie, incorporating the most number of people in a single selfie. Event organisers claim that there were more than 2,000 students who gathered in the venue to get their faces into the record winning picture. Apart from this, the students are also organising another cultural event called Sneharagam, which will be held on March 15, specially meant for the differently abled kids from all over the state.
Quoting from the organisers, the event turned out to be a grand success and will add a golden feather on the cap of NITC.
