KOCHI:“The recognition being accorded to government hospitals in the state is a testimony to their achievements in providing good healthcare”, said Health Minister V S Sivakumar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a function organised as part of the renewal of accreditation for the Ernakulam General Hospital, by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), here on Thursday.

“The recognition is the reward for providing facilities that are at par with private hospitals. The government is planning to set up a taluk hospital, a primary health centre and two community health centres in each district, with state-of-the-art facilities,” the Minister said.  “The government will soon accord administrative sanction for setting up a ‘cath lab’ in the General Hospital. Priority will be given to the trauma care unit and the pain and palliative care unit,” the Minister added.   On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated the cardiology block, palliative care unit, trauma care unit and the renovated building of the ‘One Stop Crisis Cell’.   The function was presided over by Hibi Eden MLA and Minister K Babu delivered the keynote address.
