Solar LED Lamps at Subsidised Rates

KOZHIKODE: As part of expanding its operations, SATVA Future for Earth and Us, an environmental organisation based here, will provide solar LED emergency lamps at subsidised rates.

In a press statement issued here the other day, M A Johnson, president of SATVA, said that the aim was to provide at least one solar emergency lamp to all the households in the state in the next one year.

As part of the project 1,000 people in each of the districts in the state will be provided with emergency lights with a subsidy of Rs 1,150. “The original rate of the lamp is Rs 2,900. We are selling it for Rs 1,750 with a subsidy of Rs 1,150. In the second and third phases, more people will be provided with emergency lights,” Johnson said, adding that SATVA intended to give solar power plants and LED bulbs at subsidised rates.

C P Pavithran, secretary of SATVA, said the organisation intended to spread the use of eco-friendly energy products. “Our emergency light can run continuously for 12 hours. It is made of fewer spare parts and has a warranty of one year,” he added.
