Nine Malayalam Movies at IFFK- 2015

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  As many as nine Malayalam movies will be screened at the 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) this December.

Two films - state and national award winning ‘Ottal’, an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s 19th-century classic short story ‘Vanka’ by Jayaraj R, and Satish Babusenan’s ‘Chaayam Poosiya Veedu’ (The Painted House) - has made it to the Competition category.

The seven films included in the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ section are: ‘Ain’ (‘The Eye’) by Sidharth Siva; ‘Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal’ (‘Birds with Large Wings’) by Dr Bijukumar Damodaran; ‘Pathemari’ by Salim Ahmed; Ozhivudivasathe Kali (‘An Off-Day Game’) by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan; ‘Nirnayakam’ by V K Prakash; ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ (‘Yours, Moideen’) by R S Vimal and ‘Kaattum Mazhayum’ by R Harikumar.

The films were selected by a jury chaired by writer and film critic Malti Sahai. The other jury members are author M F Thomas, Chandrasekhar, Sashi Kumar and Sudhish Kamath. IFFK-2015 will be held from December 4 to 11.
