CHENGANNUR: Former MLA and Congress leader Shobhana George quit the party and decided to contest in Chengannur Assembly constituency as an Independent candidate. She told mediapersons here that the groups of Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy did not consider her for the Assembly polls. “They had agreed during the previous elections to let me contest from Chengannur during the elections in 2016.

But the leaders did not consider me for this election,” she said. The party has decided to go with Chengannur sitting MLA P C Vishnunadh.  Shobhana George said she would collect money from people for the deposit-money in the election. With the BJP and CPM fielding P S Sreedharan Pillai and Ramachandran Nair respectively, the segment is all set to witnesss a fierce battle.
