Chargesheet filed against officer, aide

KOCHI: The CBI has filed chargesheet against the former passport officer of Malappuram and his aide, who were arrested last year in connection with a corruption case.The chargesheet was filed at the CBI Court here last week against P Ramakrishnan, 53, of Pallikkunnu, Thalassery, and Abdul Ameer T T of Hajiyarpalli, Malappuram.

Ramakrishnan was held on July 14, 2015, on charges of accepting `50,000 as bribe from Surej Sarfudeen Shah, employee of a company engaged in supply of food to UN security officials in Sudan. Surej, whose wife had applied for passport, was canvassed by second accused Abdul Ameer who operated as Ramakrishnan’s agent and lured passport applicants by offering quick service for a ‘premium.’
