ALAPPUZHA: A civil police officer attached with the Alappuzha Traffic Police Station was run over by KSRTC bus at Pathirapally near here on Thursday. The diseased has been identified as V K Anilkumar 31, son of Karunakaran, Vadakkevely house, Mannanchery was killed in the accident. Mannanchery police said that the accident happened around 9.30am when the CPO was travelling in bike to the Alappuzha Traffic Police station where he is doing duty. The bike lost control when it fell on a gutter on the NH 66 and hit on the bus. The rear wheel of the bus runs over him and he died on the spot, police said. The fast passenger bus was proceeding to Ernakulam from Karunagapally.
His body was handed over to relatives after postmortem examination at Alappuzha Medical College hospital. The funeral was held at his house premised in the evening. After the incident the KSRTC bus driver and conductor surrendered at Mararikkulam police station, police said. Anil Kumar was deployed to the Traffic Police station from the armed police reserve one year ago. He is survived by wife Saritha and son Athul.
