THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Communist veteran and former chief minister VS Achuthanandan was admitted to a hospital in the State capital on Thursday, after he complained of physical discomfort.
Sources close to Achuthanandan, presently the chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, said his condition is stable. 

The 93-year-old leader had a minor slip during his evening walk at University Stadium here at around 6 pm. Sources said there was minor blood pressure variation when he was taken to hospital.

"When he slipped, the gunman who was with him supported him immediately. He then went home as usual. Since he complained of some physical discomfort, he was taken to a hospital. The blood pressure was a bit high when he reached the hospital. Bit it later became normal. Doctors also checked for cardiac complaints and ruled out any such problems. However, he would continue in hospital for the day," sources said.
