KANNUR: BJP general secretary, Bhupendra Yadav has demanded that an independent inquiry led by a sitting High Court judge must be constituted by Kerala government on all incidents of political violence, especially against BJP activists, which is still continuing. Bhupendar Yadav, who is leading a team MPs including Anant Hegde, Nalin Kateel, national secretary and Kerala in-charge H Raja, visited the houses of BJP activists and their families, who were killed, or severely injured in alleged CPM attack.
Later speaking to reporters, he said there is a very unfortunate situation in Kerala where we have seen political institutional censorship and dictatorship. There is an undeclared emergency situation in Kerala, where the fundamental and political right of people, and families have been encroached by Communist party cadre and as well by the ruling government, he said.
Many karyakartas have been fighting in Kannur since 1969 to push the nationalist view of their ideology. Their commitment is only to the nation and they are facing physical assault. It is an unfortunate situation, he said.
Congress and Communist parties had lost in Bengal despite fighting together and naturally they will lose their ground in Kerala as well. They don’t want to see the BJP, naturally an upcoming force in Kerala, grow, Bhupendar Yadav said.
Representation would be given to the Governor and other state administrators after a proper study. But it is the right time for a judicial probe, he said.
CPM cadre and the government are against BJP and their workers. We want justice, freedom of speech, dignity, human rights, independent political view, mutual respect of all political views and an immediately end to atrocities against RSS workers.
H Raja said that since the CPM won the election in Kerala, the attack against political rivals has increased manifold. This shows that the CPM has lost faith in ideological and political fight and are indulging in physical annihilation. The BJP is a growing force in the state and both the UDF and LDF have seen a dip in the number of votes during the last election. They have been attacking BJP workers and more than 300 attacks have taken place after the LDF government took reign, he said.
BJP state president Kumanam Rajasekharan, said that even as the CPM leaders state that they are ready for a discussion, they continue to carry on with violence. This is part of the CPM policy, he said. Only when CPM decides to stop the violence, will peace prevail in the state. It is natural for a chief minister to express his views when violence takes place, however he is maintaining silence. Even as CPM alleges that the BJP is behind the violence and attack, most of the police report will reveal that CPM cadre are behind 95 per cent of the attacks. The CPM is misguiding people.
