Kerala Assembly session to commence from Tuesday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fifth session of the 14th Assembly is slated to begin on Tuesday amid the controversy over Electricity Minister M M Mani’s tirade against Pembilai Orumai. This will also be the first Assembly session after the LDF Government lost a second minister from its Cabinet.

Transport Minister A K Saseendran was forced to step down following the sleaze talk scandal. The Opposition will attempt to push the government on the defensive raising a host of other issues, including the police action against the family of Jishnu Pranoy.The fifth session will last for 32 days, covering legislative business, 13 days for debate and voting on demands for grants in the state budget and six days for private members’ bills. Bills on four ordinances have to be passed in this session.
