PALAKKAD: Two women employees of the PK Das memorial medical college, under the Nehru group of institutions at Vaniamkulam near Shoranur, tried to commit suicide in the wee hours of Saturday.
Both have been admitted to the intensive care unit of the PK Das memorial medical college hospital. The women were working in the Radiology department of the hospital. According to the police, they reportedly attempted suicide by consuming acid.
The employees had completed their para-medical studies from the same college. According to Palakkad special branch police, both women were best friends.
This was the last day of their employment at the hospital, as per the contract.
The Ottappalam Magistrate has recorded their statements.
