Students back off from seeking Lakshmi Nair’s resignation, demand new principal

Scaling down their demand for the resignation of former principal, the students urged that a new principal with prescribed qualifications be appointed in the position at the earliest.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bringing an end to the month-long student agitation at the Kerala Law Academy Law College (KLALC) here, the student representatives said they would withdraw the strike if the management gives an assurance that former principal Lakshmi Nair is barred from returning as the principal of the academy.

Scaling down their demand for the resignation of former principal, the students urged that a new principal with prescribed qualifications be appointed in the position at the earliest.

The students also demanded speeding up of investigation into criminal cases against Lakshmi Nair under the SC / ST Prevention of Atrocities Act for insulting students by using casteist references.
