KOZHIKODE: A senior gynaecologist with a government hospital in the district was arrested by the Kozhikode Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) for allegedly taking illegal gratification of Rs 2,000 from a man for conducting laparoscopic sterilisation on his wife.
K P Abdul Rasheed (52), a gynaecologist in Government Taluk Hospital at Thamarassery, was caught red-handed on Monday by vigilance officers for demanding and accepting bribe from the couple.
A raid is being carried out by VACB officials at his residence in Thamarassery. He will be produced before the court, officials said.
