Motorcycle expedition turns tragic for Malappuram youths, one dies, another seriously injured

KOCHI: An expedition to Kochi on their motorcycle turned tragic for two youths hailing from Malappuram as one died and other suffered severe injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a car near Pathadippalam, Edappally on NH 544.

Police identified the deceased as Abdul Mohammed, 17, from Thottassery, Eravimanagalam, Perinthalmanna. Abdul Wahid, 17, hailing from Perinthalmanna is undergoing treatment at a private hospital nearby.

According to the police, the two-wheeler heading to Aluva was hit by a car coming from the pocket way, Parijatham Road at around 8 AM. The impact of the collision threw Abdul Mohammed out of the vehicle and his head hit on a pillar constructed for Kochi Metro.

The duo was rushed to KIMS Hospital where doctors declared Abdul Mohammed dead on arrival.

The duo-- students in Malappuram—were on a two-wheeler ride to Kochi and had informed their families that they were on a tour.

The Edappally Traffic Police has registered a case.
