KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has introduced five per cent seat reservation for children of Indian workers in Gulf, foreign nationals and those having People of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) status for seven BTech and one MTech (Atmospheric Science) courses this academic year. Cusat is the first varsity in the state to offer such a reservation.

“The quota was earmarked as per the government policy. Though a gazette notification in this regard was issued a few years ago, AICTE clearance on the infrastructure on the campus was required to make the announcement. The university has obtained the clearance,” said K K Saju, director of the International Relations and Academic Admissions (IRAA) of the varsity.

Candidates already included in the Common Admission Test (CAT)-2017 rank list can apply, provided one of his/her parents should be an employee in a Gulf country. They have to apply through online portal www.cusat.nic.in from July 3 to July 12. The All India Merit Fee is applicable for the BTech course.
