THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac today said selling of Mizoram lottery tickets was illegal in the state.

"Selling of lottery tickets of Mizoram in the state is illegal and it is without getting the state's permission," Isaac told reporters here.

The government would investigate to find out who was behind the selling of Mizoram tickets by giving advertisements, he said.

"The lottery (tickets) coming into the state is not the Mizoram lottery, but tickets of lottery king Santiago Martin," he alleged.

Efforts were on from certain quarters to sell lottery tickets in the state after the GST came into force, he said.

The government has issued notification imposing restrictions on the sale of lottery tickets of other states, he said.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Ramesh Chennithala alleged that lottery tickets of other states were coming back to Kerala with the help of CPI-M-led LDF government.
