THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors in the state stayed away from duty for an hour as part of the ‘Dilli chalo’ agitation announced by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) against the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, the National Exit Test (NEXT) and the attacks on health care staff in hospitals.

Expressing solidarity with the protest held in New Delhi, the doctors attended duty wearing black badges on Tuesday.

The doctors working in both the government and private hospitals participated in the one hour strike. It was basically a pen down strike, said IMA leader John Panicker.

The KGMOA, KGMCTA, PG Medical Students Association, House Surgeons Association, Medical Students Association and Qualified Private Medical Practitioners Association had extended their support to the agitation.
