IDUKKI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday quashed the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court order directing the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the allegations against actor Mohanlal in connection with illegal possession of ivory.

The court passed the verdict on a petition filed by Mohanlal challenging the Vigilance Court’s order. The Vigilance Court ordered a quick verification on a complaint filed by A A Poulose of Kochi. Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is another respondent in the complaint.

According to the complaint, Mohanlal was found in illegal possession of two sets of ivory at his home in Thevara during a search conducted by the I-T officers. Based on that, the Forest Department had registered a case. The actor was found to be in possession of them since 1988 without intimating the Department of Forest. It was alleged Mohanlal used undue influence to obtain an illegal order to withdraw the case against him.
