KANNUR: The police have arrested a 15-year-old school student on the charges of molesting a three-year- old- tribal girl at her house in a tribal colony at Kanichar near Peravoor, in Kannur on Tuesday.
According to the police, the boy is a Class 10 student and the uncle of the child. The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's mother .
The incident occurred on the evening of March 12, as the parents, both coolie workers, were out of their house for work. As the mother reached the house on hearing the child's cry she found her brother sexually abusing her daughter.
The parents rushed the girl to a nearby hospital at Peravoor. Meanwhile, the doctor alerted the police which led to the boy's arrest.
Later, the victim was shifted to Thalassery General Hospital for further treatment.
Police registered a case under POCSO and the accused was set to be produced before the Juvenile Justice court on Tuesday evening.
