KANNUR:  A trickle of water has engorged into a flash flood. A day after the bizarre incident of a girl student being forced to remove her innerwear before entering the NEET examination hall in Kannur on Sunday shocked the Kerala psyche, several parents have come out with similar allegations.

Rajesh N, father of a candidate who appeared for the NEET test in the same school at Kannur, alleged officers forced his daughter to remove the metal button on her pants. “Several candidates faced unprecedented ordeal in the examination centre.

My daughter had to remove a button on her pants. Later, she entered the examination hall wearing a safety pin to make her pants tight. Some candidates were asked to lift their dress for security check. Some had to remove their innerwear.

I saw a couple of children returning from the entry point and handing over the top innerwear to their mothers,” he said.

A female candidate from Kasargod too alleged she had to remove the top innerwear before entering the exam hall. “When I reached the examination centre, officers asked me to change my pants because I was wearing a dark one.

After travelling 3 km, we found a shop and bought another pair of pants. However the ordeal did not end there. When I tried to cross the metal detector, the machine beeped because the top innerwear had a metal buckle. The officers asked me to change the innerwear. Such a step is not mentioned in NEET instructions,” she said.

The student’s mother said the incident put her daughter under severe duress. “She was preparing for the NEET for the last one year. She had to face huge mental stress before the examination. Several other children also faced a similar nightmare,” she said.
