KOCHI: Tendering unconditional apology, the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) informed the Kerala High Court it had not violated any order passed by the court in the case of athlete P U Chitra. “I hereby tender my unconditional apology in case I have knowingly or unknowingly violated any order or directive passed by the court,” AFI secretary C K Valson submitted. He also sought to dismiss the contempt petition filed against him and other AFI officers by Chithra.
Valson said on receipt of the Single Judge order directing AFI to ensure Chithra’s participation in IAAF World Championships held in London recently, the AFI sought to implement the directive, notwithstanding the fact it had already resolved to appeal against it. However, the IAAF responded rejecting the request.
On the allegation athlete Sudha Singh was included in IAAF list as one of the athletes despite not participating in the Guntur meet and not being recommended by AFI, he replied Sudha Singh was never sent to take part in the championship.
