THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of former radio jockey at Madavoor near Kilimanoor has intensified the search for Appunni who helped  Alibhai aka Salih Bin Jalal to commit the crime.Appunni was a member of the gang that attacked the radio jockey-cum-folk singer. According to investigators, Appunni fled to his sister’s house in Chennai after committing the crime.

Rajesh aka Rasikan Rajesh, 36, of Kilimanoor, was hacked to death in his studio by a four-member gang around 2 am on March 27.Rajesh’s assistant Kuttan was also injured in the attack. He is undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital.

Attingal DySP P Anilkumar told Express search has been intensified to trace the culprits, who are suspected to be hiding in Mumbai.“We are weighing every possibility to trace the culprits. But we can’t divulge more details at this point of time. The culprits would be nabbed soon,” said Anilkumar.  
Meanwhile, sources said it was an NRI, Sathar hailing from Oachira, who allegedly gave the ‘quotation’ to kill Rajesh.

There were reports that Rajesh had relationship with the NRI’s wife, who is a native of Alappuzha. The call details of Rajesh were also verified by the police. The probe revealed that Rajesh was in conversation with a woman in an internet number at the time of the assault.
