THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress party stalled Parliament proceedings so as to prevent the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from getting highlighted, MP and BJP national executive committee member V Muraleedharan said on Thursday. Taking part in the nationwide fast by the BJP in protest against the repeated stalling of Parliament session by the Congress and Left parties, Muraleedharan said the BJP-led NDA government was successful in ushering in much more development and welfare projects in the past four years than the Congress could in the past 50 years.

‘’The Congress, which failed to garner enough seats to become the official Opposition in 2014, is unable to come to terms with the fact of ‘powerlessness.’ That is why they are repeatedly stalling Parliament,’’ he said. The Opposition attempted to create an extraordinary situation where all development activities are stalled by preventing the passing of the budget, he said.

The Congress and the Opposition parties should explain to the people as to why they have stalled Parliament, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan said. Suresh Gopi MP said the MPs stalling Parliament proceedings should be denied allowances. O Rajagopal MLA and BJP state leaders were present.
