‘Chill Bus’ for smooth low-floor connectivity

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC is all set to connect the entire state with its low-floor AC bus fleet. The bus service titled ‘Chill Bus’ will connect the major cities and districts in regular intervals. The service will be operated from three major hubs in the state - Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode. The KSRTC, which has a fleet size of 219 low-floor AC buses, has not been effectively using its fleet.

The new project will ensure low-floor AC bus services from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam via Alappuzha and Kottayam, Ernakulam to Kozhikode, and Kozhikode to Kasargod at a regular interval of one hour from 5 am to 10 pm and at an interval of two hours at night.

Further, the KSRTC will hold services to eastern districts from these major hubs like Ernakulam-Munnar, Ernakulam-Kumali, Ernakulam-Thodupuzha, T’Puram-Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam-Guruvayur, Kozhikode to Palakkad and Ernakulam to Palakkad at regular intervals. The KSRTC has also ensured equal number of return services in all the routes.

Through the connecting Kerala initiative, the KSRTC can streamline its crew management, staff deployment and resize the staff strength along with increasing the efficiency of services, said KSRTC MD Tomin J Thanchankary.

The passengers will also be provided facility to book online seats from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.
