Nipah infection in Kerala: Huge relief as death pauses, infection rate falls

However, the authorities have urged people to be vigilant and careful as they have not ruled out the chances for infection.

KOZHIKODE: With no death reported for the third straight day, health officers in the district are relieved and believe the Nipah infection rate is going down. The last death in the district was reported on Thursday.
Though a patient, who was undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital, died on Saturday, she was not infected by Nipah virus, confirmed authorities.

However, the authorities have urged people to be vigilant and careful as they have not ruled out the chances for infection.  The district administration is strictly monitoring the contact list, which now over 2,000 names.

The health officials are also in touch with the people in the contact list and have ensured with facilities such as ambulance services to reach Medical College Hospital,in case symptoms become visible.
