A 48-member NDRF team will soon reach Kozhikode, one of the worst-affected districts, he said. A second team will arrive in the state as a reserve force to handle contingencies. The police and fire and rescue services have been ordered to remain alert. The Transport and Labour ministers are monitoring the situation in Kozhikode district, the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, the IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea.

''Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along and off Kerala, Karnataka coasts and over Lakshadweep area. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Karnataka, Kerala coasts and over Lakshadweep area,'' IMD said in an advisory.
