SABARIMALA: The three-day ‘ashtamangala devaprasnam’ led by astrologer Irinjalakuda Padmanabha Sarma, during the marathon astrological exercise has called for the reinstatement of Kandararu Mohanaru as Sabarimala thantri. The ‘devaprasnam’, which began on Friday found that senior thantri Kandararu Maheswararu, who expired in May, resulted in the postponement of the devaparsnam scheduled during the monthly pooja days of Idavom in May.

It may be noted that Mohanaru was removed as Sabarimala thantri over a case in Kochi a decade ago. The astrologers found the cause for the demise of the thantri was due to son Kandararu Mohanaru’s misfortunes. Rectification of the senior thantri’s cause of worry was needed, the devaprasnam found.
Travancore Devaswom Board President A Padmakumar, who was present at the venue, said the TDB would be ready to reinstate Mohanaru. The devaprasnam found that the roofing above the Holy Steps in front of the temple should be removed.

The removal of the roofing would be needed in view of the failure of a clear vision for the Lord on Ponnambalamedu, located on the east side of the temple where the Lord originally came. The devaprasnam also found relocation of the present bhasmakulam on the west side of the temple. It will conclude on Sunday with the presentation of the prasnacharth to the thantri in the afternoon.
