THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that the Narendra Modi Government is anti-Kerala, senior BJP leader and MLA O Rajagopal said the CM should clarify as to how the Centre is acting against the state.

Rajagopal claimed that Pinarayi was in New Delhi to attend party programmes and was trying to turn the visit into an official one by forcing a meeting with the PM. Regarding the Kanjikode railway coach factory, Rajagopal said the PMO had already clarified that the issues can be dealt at the level of the ministers concerned. He said Pinarayi should have taken advice from former CM V S Achuthanandan, who had met Railways Minster Piyush Goyal and got a positive response regarding the issue.

Goyal, who was not in New Delhi at that moment, visited Kerala just to meet Achuthanandan and this shows how concerned the Union government is towards the state. He said former CM, late K Karunakaran, had to wait for three days to meet the PM, who was from his own party.

Rajagopal said while Pinarayi was making anti-Modi statements in New Delhi, another Union minister was in the state to announce development schemes for Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology to the tune of Rs 600 crore.
