SC annuls admission to 4 Self Financing medical colleges in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Supreme Court on Monday annulled the admission to 550 seats in four self-financing medical colleges in the state.A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra invalidated the admission proceedings to four colleges while considering the plea of Medical Council of India (MCI) which challenged the HC ruling allowing the colleges to hold admissions. The court cancelled admissions to Al-Azhar College, Thodupuzha, DM Medical College, Wayanad, PK Das Medical College, Palakkad and SR Medical College, Varkala.

Earlier, the MCI had denied permission for these four colleges to hold admission stating they failed to met the necessary norms. However, the colleges conducted admissions after securing a favourable verdict from HC. Following this, MCI moved the SC. During the trial, the apex court also observed the students may have to lose their seats, while staying the the admissions to these four colleges.
