THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thomas Biju Cheeramvelil from Kerala has bagged the all-India third rank in JEE-Advanced. He secured the all india 17th rank in JEE-Main with 100 percentile score. Thomas completed Plus Two from Viswaprakash Central School at Thirumala in Thiruvananthpuram and was pursuing classroom and online coaching for the engineering entrance examination.

“I spent 10 hours daily for preparation. Solving previous years’ question papers helped, as did the worksheets provided by the coaching centres,” said Thomas who intends to pursue computer science engineering from IIT-Bombay. He said he had found JEE-Advanced tough. “I was surprised when I bagged third rank,” he said.

His JEE preparation was inspired by his mother Reenie Rajan, an assistant professor with Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram. His father Biju C Thomas is a scientist at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. Thomas’ younger brother Paul is a Plus One student.
