Sabarimala closed after Idavam pooja

SABARIMALA:  Lord Ayyappa temple here was closed on Friday after five-day monthly pooja for the Malayalam month of Idavam. Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam were the important rituals performed on the concluding day of the monthly pooja.

As part of Sahasrakalasam, thantri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru performed kalasa pooja at the Mandapam on the south of the Sreekovil in the presence of melsanthi Jayaraman Nampoothiri at 5 pm on Thursday.

The ritual concluded with kalasabhishekam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja on Friday afternoon. In connection with Kalabhabhishekam, the thantri performed Brahmakalasa pooja at the Mandapam of the temple. Kalabhabhishekam, marking the conclusion of the ritual, on the idol of the Lord was performed during Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying the Brahamakalasam led by the thantri circumambulated the Sreekovil.

Udayasthamana pooja, Ashtabhishekam, Pushpabhishekam and Padi pooja were the other ritual held. The temple was closed at 10 pm after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam. The temple will be reopened on May 29 for the one-day celebration of idol reinstallation anniversary on May 30.
