BHUBANESWAR: Giving a new dimension to the education scenario in Orissa, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) today announced a tie-up with Tata Steel for education of children of families displaced by its project along with other marginalised sections of the State.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Executive Director (India and South East Asia) of Tata Steel HM Nerurkar and KIIT Group of Institutions founder Achyut Samanta in the presence of Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei and Consul-General of India to Vietnam Dr J.N. Mishra.

The two organisations will work together to develop professional skills of the students of not only the rural tribal community but also those from the poorest strata of society. Promising students of the communities would be selected and provided with necessary facilities for education in tune with their inherent skills and abilities. The collaboration would take care of the students from education to job opportunities.

Samanta said the coming together of both the organisations would herald a new chapter in the uplift of the tribals and backward classes.

The partnership was in line with Tata Steel’s motto of promoting education among tribals as pronounced by Chairman Ratan Tata, Nerurkar said.
