BHUBANESWAR: The place that Satyabadi Bana Bidyalaya has commanded in the history of Orissa will always remain unmatched. The school, which played a tremendous role in shaping the future of the State, turned 100 this year.
A fitting tribute to this school, started by legends like Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Pandit Acharya Harihar, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Pandit Godabarish Mishra and Pandit Krupasindhu Mishra, has come in the form of a book “Sahe Barshara Satyabadi Banabidyalaya” penned by senior journalist of Oriya daily - Samaja - Debaprasad Mishra.
The book goes back into history of the school, contemporary socio-political scenario and how some of the greatest sons of the soil joined forces to come up with concept of an open air school which was innovative and revolutionary at the same time and dreamt of ushering in an education system, blending both the conventional and the modern.
The book, which was released marking the centenary year of the school, also gives glimpses into some rare documents and pictures of those times. It also reproduces the last will of Pandit Das and gives rare insight into his life.
