CUTTACK: Justice Bilal Nazki of the Bombay High Court will assume office as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on November 14. Governor MC Bhandare will administer the oath of office to Chief Justice-designate Justice Nazki.

Born on November 18, 1947 in Srinagar, he obtained Law degree from Aligarh Muslim University.

He was Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir from January, 1992 before being elevated as Additional Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court in January 1995.

He subsequently became permanent judge of the Court.

Justice Bilal was transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1997 and acting Chief Justice of the Court twice. He was transferred as a Judge of the Bombay High Court in January 2008.
