BHUBANESWAR: Who runs the show at the Orissa Medical Services Association (OMSA)? The seven members who were suspended from the body on July 25 claimed they do.
Their version was immediately refuted by the current dispensation, of course.
Dr Bijay Kumar Swain, who was general secretary of the association till he and six others were suspended last month, on Sunday claimed that they have dissolved the present executive body and an action committee would now take over till the next meeting takes place to form the new one.
He said the general secretary of the association is empowered to convene a general body meeting which he did not. So the July 25 meeting is not constitutional.
On the other hand, an OMSA spokesman said the last meeting was convened by the central executive committee and if the general secretary did not turn up, it did not matter. It is OMSA president Madhusudan Mishra who is actually being opposed by the seven-member faction which had formed a Save OMSA forum earlier leading to their suspension.
