Pipili panel begins probe

CUTTACK: The Justice PK Mohanty Commission of Inquiry into Pipili case started its proceedings here on Saturday. While seven affidavits have been filed, the alleged victim’s family members filed two affidavits on the day.

The Commission  extended the time to file affidavits till April 20 and posted the next sitting to April 21.  Meanwhile, the State Government appointed additional Government advocates Debasis Panda and JP Pattnaik to conduct the matter on its behalf.

The Orissa High Court on Sunday observed that the Crime Branch can take up further investigation in the case and examine the culpability of the police and doctors in the incident in accordance with law.
