ROURKELA: An employee of the South Eastern Railways (SER), AC Pal, was dismissed from service after the Railway Board found him to be actively involved in the disruption of train services during a public protest.

Sources said the dismissal order reached the Chakradharpur division of the SER on Monday evening.

Kolkata-based Chief PRO of SER Soumitra Mozumdar confirmed the order and added that it was invoked after the concerned employee’s conduct was found reasonably appropriate for his removal.

Pal, posted as Office Superintendent at the Diesel Loco Shed of SER at Bondamunda here, on January 5 led other employees and local residents in the rail roko in which rail traffic on the Howrah-Mumbai main line was paralysed for over two hours. They were protesting inaction of the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Bondamunda to contain criminal activities after an employee, MM Bannerjee, was beaten to death by unidentified miscreants in a loot incident.
