PHULBANI: A couple from Portugal, who had come to visit Balliguda, were asked by the district administration to leave the sub-division on Monday.

Anna Maria and her husband Victor Richado had arrived in Balliguda sub-division on Sunday noon. On their arrival, they went to a lodge and enquired about visiting Barakhama village, home to Kutia tribals, to see Dokra art and also visit the wooden bungalow at Belghar.

Sources said the two were taken to the Sub-Collector who refused them permission to visit the village and asked Balliguda police to keep a vigilant eye on their movement.

The couple told this paper that they were not aware of the restrictions on visit of foreign tourists to places inhabited by Primitive Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
