3 dacoits arrested, arms seized

Mahanga Police have arrested three dacoits and seized a Mauser, a country-made pistol and 10 bullets from their possession.

The arrested dacoits are Pravat Ranjan Bhuyan (32), Manoranjan Bhuyan (33)and Rakesh Ranjan Rout of Kalianta. They were nabbed from their village.

Police recovered the Mauser and six bullets concealed under a heap of sand on the premises of Pravat’s half-built house. The country-made pistol and another four bullets were found buried under earth in the backyard of a cattle pen.

The trio had been at large after opening fire on the owner of a dhaba at Krushnadaspur along Chandikhol-Paradip NH on June 10, informed Mahanga police station IIC Pravas Chandra Pal.
