Two elephants and a boar were found electrocuted at Karadabani under Galery range in Bhanjanagar forest division, on Saturday.
The forest officials have buried the carcasses after post-mortem. The animals had died on Friday night after coming in contact with live wire.
DFO KC Misra said four suspected persons had been identified and they would be nabbed soon. The poachers often use the high tension lines passing through the forests to trap animals, he said, adding that there is a proposal to lay cables instead.
On September 26, a tusker was electrocuted in Karachuli forest under Buguda forest range and his tusks sawed. The forest officials had seized the wires and also identified the poachers. Though the poachers are yet to be arrested, a person was detained and basing on his statement the tusks, buried in the forest, recovered.
Mother rescues baby jumbo
It was a sight to behold. A herd rescued a calf that had fallen into a well while passing through Jhariambagaon forest under Khallikote forest range.
The locals had informed the forest officials about the incident. They reached the spot and along with the locals watched the mother elephant lift the calf from the well with her trunk. The herd then retreated back to Ranibara forest.
