‘Congress clear on future PM’

Express News Service

Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid left no room for speculation over who should be the next Prime Minister if the party retained power at the Centre, while attending the Odisha Literary Festival here on Saturday.

Though Khurshid did not name the ‘future’ PM, he was emphatic that someone youngerthan himself would don the mantle of Prime Minister. He also did not rule out the prospects of “someone” (read Rahul Gandhi) from the Gandhi family making it to the top post.

Khurshid’s observations came during an interactive session on ‘Ideological Literature: Dead or Alive?” on the second and concluding day of the festival, organised by The New Indian Express. Khurshid was in conversation with noted academic and Jawaharlal Nehru University Professor Pushpesh Pant. The remark came on a persistent query from Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director of The New Indian Express, who was moderating the session.
