Cracking the cold-blooded murder of a 19-year-old, police have arrested a local muscleman of Nayapalli and his teenage son who had allegedly hacked the victim, Rajesh Jena, at IRC Village here last week.

Krushna Chandra Nayak, who runs a security agency and is into land deals, along with his elder son, Mrityunjay Nayak, was nabbed from Cuttack after six-day raids at different parts of the State and outside.

Krushna’s second son Dhananjay and another Radha Govind Barik are still at large. Barik is charged with being an accomplice.

Immediately after the incident, the man and his sons had fled. Nayapalli Police which first trailed the accused to West Bengal returned to Odisha looking for them.

On Wednesday, Krushna and Mrityunjay were nabbed from a hideout in Cuttack. Going by sources, Barik could soon be arrested as police have zeroed in on him.

Mrityunjay and Dhananjay, escorted by Barik, had formed the group that attacked Rajesh over a trivial issue. It was Mrityunjay who had wielded the sharp weapon and attacked Rajesh, police said.

On October 18, the siblings were returning home when Rajesh, who had past acquaintance with them, called them out for a conversation which led to an altercation. The brothers duo went home and returned armed. While Barik gave the brothers a ride on his bike to track down Rajesh, it was their father who picked them up from the crime scene.

Police suspect that the father may have provoked the sons leading to the murder.

The four have been charged under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
