Kallola-2013 takes off

Curtains went up on five-day Utkal Diwas and Jagatsinghpur Zilla Mahotsav, titled ‘Kallola-2013’ on Monday evening.

Inaugurating the function, Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty said, “Besides being an industrialilsed district, Jagatsinghpur has a rich cultural heritage.”  Earlier in the day, cultural rally with traditional dance and Paika Akhada was taken out from Gandhi Chowk to Collector’s office. School children, government officials and elected representatives participated in the rally.

The celebration provides an insight into the rich and vibrant cultural tradition of the region. Jagatsinghpur was included as a new district in 1993. More than 100 stalls selling handicrafts and food items have been set up at the venue.
