Around 196 persons including children were taken ill on Saturday after consuming contaminated food in Basta area of Balasore district on Friday night.
After having food at a feast organised by a member of a minority community, they complained of vomiting, nausea and stomach pain.
They were immediately rushed to Basta and Paunsakuli hospital. A few hours later, more villagers who had consumed the food complained of diarrhoea. CDMO Anup Kumar Ghosh said people fell ill due to food poisoning.
