In its bid to improve the quality of travelling for passengers, the East Coast Railway has introduced Linke Holfman Bush (LHB) coaches in Purusottam Express beginning Sunday.
Purusottam Express will now run with 22 coaches, which will be hi-tech and have better shock-absorbers and low noise levels. The coaches will have anti-mounting mechanism to prevent mounting of coaches over another coach in case of derailment and reduce damage.
The ECoR sources said the disc brake system of the LHB coaches ensures effective application of brakes with less response time and space. As against the noise level of 100 decibels in conventional coaches, LHB coaches generate just 60 decibels providing a more comfortable experience to the travelling public.
The horizontal as well as vertical shock absorbers also reduce the jerk level considerably. Purusottam Express comprises 12 sleeper class coaches, four AC 3-tier coaches, one AC 2-tier coach and two general second class coaches.
