Commissionerate Police on Saturday submitted chargesheet against 10 persons including prime accused Paresh Mohapatra in the sensational Alakananda murder case.
In the 14-page chargesheet, which is based on circumstantial evidence, the accused have been slapped charges under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Alakananda, a school teacher, was allegedly strangulated to death by Paresh on July 29 in a spur of the moment action following a heated exchange between the two who were in a live-in relationship.
Paresh’s accomplices, Pranabas Ray and J Kameshawar Rao, had told police that the body was taken to the Kaliaboda cremation ground where it was cremated the same night.
