Vigilance cases filed against three

Express News Service

Former senior clerk and store in-charge of Barkote block office in the district Dukjhabandhu Sahu has been accused of embezzling 462.34 quintals of rice amounting to around Rs 5.64 lakh sanctioned under the MLALAD fund in 2003-04.

A case was registered against him by the Sambalpur Vigilance wing following investigation on Wednesday.

During investigation into allegation of misappropriation of rice by Sahu, a physical stock verification of the stock was made on August 28 last year in presence of the ABDO of Barkote block and Sahu, the then senior clerk of the office.

Investigation revealed that there was no stock of rice in the godown. However, Sahu could not explain the shortage of 462.34 quintals of rice in the godown. As the stock was handled only by the then stock and store in-charge of Barkote block, it was ascertained that Sahu misappropriated the stock without accounting for the same.

In a separate case, Sambalpur Vigilance also registered a case against range officer of Badrama-Kuchinda Kendu Leaf division Ramesh Chandra Nanda and a candidate for the post of forestor (Kendu Leaf) Sanjeeb Kumar Dwibedy.

Probing into allegation of undue official favour to Dwibedy in the recruitment process by tampering the question-cum-answer paper in 2011, it was ascertained that Nanda had evaluated the answer paper for Mathematic subject of the candidate.

Nanda had allegedly entered into criminal conspiracy with Dwibedy and awarded extra mark to him by manipulating the Mathematics answer paper resulting in Dwibedy’s selection for the post.
