Rourkela bar not to join bandh Thursday

The Rourkela bar Association (RBA), one of the largest bars in Western Odisha, has announced not to join the day-long shutdown on Thursday as announced by the Central Action Committee (CAC) representing all bar associations of Western Odisha over the high court bench issue.

The Rourkela bar Association (RBA), one of the largest bars in Western Odisha, has announced not to join the day-long shutdown on Thursday as announced by the Central Action Committee (CAC) representing all bar associations of Western Odisha over the high court bench issue.

The RBA decided at a meeting on Wednesday that lawyers would wear black armbands and badges to protest the delay in setting up the HC bench. Reiterating the demand to set up the bench at Rourkela, RBA president Ramesh Bal said they would attend courts and also would not follow the decision of the CAC to force closure of Government offices till September 30.

However, Sundargarh District Bar Association, Rajgangpur Bar Association and Bonai Bar Association have decided to go with the CAC.

Sundergarh Bar secretary Pradip Mohanty said they would effect the shutdown on Thursday and also force closure of government offices till September 30.

Rajgangpur Bar president said they had also decided at a meeting that rest of the Bars in the district would also be asked to join hands with them.
