BHUBANESWAR: The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Commissionerate Police arrested a 27-year-old engineering graduate on charges of illegal possession of firearms here on Friday.
The accused was identified as Suryanarayan Mohanty alias Lulu, a native of Bonth Square in Bhadrak. He was residing at Niladri Vihar in Chandrasekharpur for the past couple of years.
Acting on a tip-off, the QAT apprehended Lulu near Keshari Talkies in the evening and seized a 9-mm semi automatic pistol and two live ammunition from his possession. The bike and two mobile phones of the accused were also seized.
A case has been registered at Kharavela Nagar police station and the accused will be produced in court on Saturday, police said.
